PostSubject: French Chronicles   Mon 13 Mar à 1:33

At first, there is an old song saying " la France ce n'est pas seulement Paris", ( France it s not only Paris) : it s a melting pot of areas : Provence, bretagne, pays basque, lyonnais .... so many cheeses, so many wines , so many people : do you like only one cheese ? No serve me a tray !!! the same for french people ...
I would begin my visit by the neighborhood : i was today in MENTON ( far south of france) near the italian border, so much at the border that we could say it's italian with a french touch. the climate is so good that i drove between two orange trees lines with big oranges. The lemon carnaval has just ended. I ate big home made ice cream ( :-p... ) For pictures : i added a link and you can select your language at the top right

PostSubject: France toujours !   Thu 6 Apr à 0:19

I wil speak about the beautiful jewels of FRANCE ! We have some. We are not only some nasty strikers! Even if that's right : french people are walking the streets instead of working, saying "NO" we want some reforms but not what is offered by lawyers !! per week, french people are working 35 hours and have a very good health care system, quite good free education for children : why would french people accept to modify that ? Today, french government has tried to set up a new work contract based on a two years period where you can be laid off without any justifications. We had only two work contracts : six months tht can be renewed only one time, or a standard contract where your boss need to justify if he wants to lay you off : economical reason or faults you did. But the system is the following: if you are laid off you can ask money to your boss saying the reasons are not good enough.
Anyway, I will speak about tourism : even if I travel a lot in France, I never visited the Mont Saint michel. Have a look below !! is it not incredible this church ( abbey) on a rock surrounded by the atlantic ocean ?? you can walk to the Mont saint michel when this is low tide, or stare at an island when this is high tide. But as usual, the environment moves ! the earth is winning on the sea because of the road built for the tourists and mont saint michel will not be an island anymore !! It s between Normandy and Brittany ; two wonderful areas where you can eat a lot of specialities. in brittany we drink cider or apple alcool and we eat some specialities of biscuits with a lot , but when i say a lot this a lot of butter ! we listen to very traditional music : celtic one.

PostSubject: CPE : First hire contact   Tue 11 Apr à 18:10

It's spring and students are in the streets. Our President Chirac just caves in. The new work contract for youth is dead. Nobody wants to try a new idea to reduce youth unemployment.
Anyway, i had tea time at the Napoule's Castel. it s a state owned castel now but in the past it was Henry and Mary CLEWS' house for decades. American citizens who went in France in the 20's. it remains there nowadays a Fitzgerald perfume: something of great Gatsby, a picture of a Wharton novel. It was when France was attracting artists from all over the world. It was when France accepted new ideas, leading fine arts with revolutionnary ideas ... you can have a look by clicking under.
